RepairClinic.com Takes a STAND for the Health of its Employees: RCC Launches New Internal Wellness Program called “STAND” |
|
CANTON, MI - November 3 , 2008 - RepairClinic.com (RCC) is proud to announce the implementation of a new internal program focused on employee health and wellness, called STAND: Stepping Toward A New Direction. Shari Pearen from Information Technology is chairing the new committee to investigate and implement new programs with the goal of helping RCC employees attain and/or maintain good health. Repairclinic.com management made this decision when employees expressed concerns about finding time and motivation to achieve their goals for a healthy lifestyle.
The committee will be asking for voluntary employee participation and involvement in meaningful activities designed to make good health a more reachable goal. The group plans to meet once a month and will include representatives from several departments throughout the company. Some of the initial topics under consideration are: Exercise, healthy eating, cholesterol control, stress reduction, smoking cessation, healthy weight loss, and more.
The first meeting was held on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 with eight committee members present. Chairperson Pearen kicked off the program by introducing members, discussing the purpose of the committee, and asking members to rate several name ideas for the program that had been submitted by employees. The name “STAND” was chosen -- an acronym for “Stepping Toward A New Direction”, and the RCC graphic designer, Liliana Holtzman, has begun work on a new logo. There was also a discussion about topics: Each committee member was asked to choose two items of personal interest from a lengthy topic list, to be further discussed at subsequent meetings.
RepairClinic.com employees also participated in a company-wide survey to determine which topics and issues might be most interesting and valuable for each of them. The results of the survey were analyzed and discussed at a separate meeting in late October.
Some of you may remember your grandmother or a great aunt saying: “If you have good health, you have everything.” It may not have sunk in at the time, since you were probably just a kid, but as you’ve gotten older…well, just about everyone has a health-related story, of some sort. And, no matter what other differences may exist, just about everyone can agree that good health is a major priority; Repairclinic is simply acting on that philosophy. |
